Gibson Woods has been Monmouth’s public golf course since 1966, laid out by designer Homer Fieldhouse through the mature timber and rolling hills of Monmouth Park on North 11th Street, the same park complex that’s home to the disc golf course, band shell, and playgrounds. It’s a full 18 holes, par 71, playing 6,362 yards from the back tees over bentgrass greens and fairways, with narrow, tree-lined, doglegged fairways and water in play on twelve of the eighteen holes. The toughest test is the 555-yard, par-5 3rd; the shortest is a 140-yard 8th.

The course is open to the public March through October, with golf carts, club rentals, a driving range, and a teaching pro on staff. Call (309) 734-9968 for tee times.
